Saturday night with Mom

First of all, here is a dedication picture to my Auntie Linda:

Mom and I sat down to watch a movie together, and she put me at the very left end of the couch. She went to the kitchen for a few minutes, and look where I ended up. MOL! She didn't move me though because I looked so comfy. >^^< You almost can't see me because I blend right in with the throw!

Mom asked me to add this in. It is her baby clam linguine dish. Aren't her new square dishes just divine?

Cat Lady tshirt!!

Remember that tshirt that Mom was drooling over a few months ago??? Well according to the site, it is STILL available. Recall that it took 50,000. Well, we're now up to 46,825 points!!! Not much longer to go now! I figure another 3-4 weeks, and we should hit the 50,000 mark! Here is the pic just to refresh your minds (and so Mom can drool again. MOL!)

Animals really ARE the best medicine!

Well, Mom took some painkillers on Wednesday night for her back pain which landed her in the hospital by ambulance because she was having really bad stomach spasms which were cutting off her breathing, made her cold, clammy, and weak, AND she couldn't speak (literally! She couldn't even answer the 911 lady. She only managed to whisper a "yes" when asked if she needed an ambulance). She hated to call, but knew she couldn't drive herself. She has a digestive issue which may have been a problem when she took the painkillers, so she was in the hospital overnight. She is feeling fine now, but the doctor wants her back in a week for more blood tests since the ones they took were out of whack along with the Xrays of her abdomen. Something to do with Mom's liver. She's remaining confident that it's nothing to worry about though.

She really wishes I could have been there with her, but unfortunately that's not possible. However, the REAL medicine for her was when she returned home at 7am and I went to sleep with her for a couple hours. On those rare occasions, I will go up to her and cuddle & purr by her side, and I did!
Then last night, I went to sleep with her at 10pm and we both ended up sleeping for 11 hours (and probably more if my grandma wouldn't have called!) That is VERY rare for me because I always wake up mom in the early morning to remind her that I need my breakfast and litter box (MOL). But I stayed with her and didn't make a sound until she got up. She feels MUCH better now, and owes it all to me! (Hmmmm, think some treats could be involved in that??)

I'm such a good boy...

Signed,
Dr. Fluffy, M.D.

PS Mom would like to add that the painkillers have been flushed down the toilet!!!

My new Cozy Calming Mat!

So Santa Claws brought me this wacky coloured thing called a "Cozy Calming Mat"! Mom had not taken it out of the package yet, so she decided to take it out tonight to see if I would like it! Anyway, it's this thing that you heat up in the microwave. There are beans in it or something. I thought it was for licking! See, I'm so clever. Item + Microwave = food! But, Mom corrected me, and showed me that you're supposed to lay on it! Sooooo, I guess "item + microwave = heated paw pad"??? Welcome to 2009 I guess! MOL!

Me lapping away at my heated mat. Mmmmm... tastes like popcorn!

Mom showing me how to use it for its intended purpose... as a paw warmer!!??

Oh yes, and we must not forget my classic bunny pose! I hadn't done it in a while!

Ok Mom, you can stop laughing now!! ANY TIME!!!

First of all, I decided to "assist" Mom with some yoga positions last night. She decided to do the full bridge pose (Dhanurasana) because she's weird and likes being upside down. Anyway, I decided to crawl under her and lay there. NOT a great idea... Mom says she could have squished me if she didn't realize I was there. Good thing I moved out of the way!

Ok, so my best furiend Napoleon sent me a message today. He's on a diet right now because he weighs about 16 lbs. Mom says I "lucked out" on a fat trimming diet because my food can't be altered. (I'm already on a prescribed diet due to my tendency to form excrutiatingly painful crystals in my bladder - Feline Urological Syndrome.) ANYWAY, here is the message he sent me. Mom could not stop laughing. She's contemplating the stylish tummy tube. I REFUSE to wear such an item on my purrfect physique!!

Jan 7th and 8th...GOT BELLY FLAB???,....
After considerable research, I think you have 3 options. 1) a TUMMY TUCK by a certified cosmetic vet. Of course, your pawrents would have to sell off a car to afford this surgery. It's not covered by VIP insurance. 2) a TUMMY TUBE. Your Mom could knit you a stylish tube to slip over your head and slide down to hold up the flab. Cost less. or 3) BELLY DANCING...Here's how you do it. Stand next to your scratching post and hold on with your right paw. Bend your knees slightly, suck in that tummy...mol Shift your hip (you did find it, didn't you?) to the right, then forward, then left , then back, then repeat. Do this a few times. then REST. Tomorrow, go the other direction---left...I'll add hip flips and figure eights during this month of fitness. Oh, you might want to do this to music. Your siblngs won't laugh so loud. Oh home on the range...

Well, Mom and I are back home now! I was excellent in the car and even slept most of the way! I'm such a smart kitty though because I started meowing like crazy when we arrived on our street! Mom is baffled how I knew we were home. Well, we cats have a great sense of direction (apparently!)

Blogging in 2009!

Odds & ends:

Well, Mom and I are planning on heading back home either Saturday afternoon or Sunday. We had a nice visit with my grandma, but we're anxious to get back. Of course, Mom has been fantasizing about coming back to a nice clean apartment, but we actually left a disaster area. (Hence why Mom wants to come back a couple days before classes resume).
Here are a few pics Mom just downloaded from our camera:
I made it all the way up here all by myself!!! Who says an aging cat can't climb!

"I'm such a smart boy!"

Eating supper on Mom's bed (grandma wasn't too happy about it either..)

Santa Claws came to see me! (Mom's cousin bought me the stogie & toy mouse!)

Mom is featured in the latest newsletter of our local nature club! (Mom's in the pink jacket. Mom's fave birding partner is in the red coat.)
